Recently, the Senate Special Committee for Oversight of the Department of Justice heard testimony from concerned citizens and industry experts, and Josh Kaul.
Wisconsin AG Josh Kaul and Michael Bloomberg are connected through a program where, since 2019, Kaul has hired privately-funded attorneys coordinated by NYU and paid by Democrat billionaire Bloomberg to advance progressive priorities within the Wisconsin Department of Justice.
These attorneys were appointed as Special Assistant Attorney Generals with full state authority, including prosecutorial duties, but without legislative approval—and they even began work before taking the required oaths of office.
Funded and potentially firable by Bloomberg's NYU State Energy & Environmental Impact Center, these attorneys raise questions about divided loyalties, as they wield state power while being tied to external partisan donors.
The Senate Special Committee is probing transparency issues: Who do these attorneys truly answer to? Is this arrangement ethical and legal?
The Department of Justice must serve the people of Wisconsin, not outside special interests or donors, emphasizing the need for accountability to protect oversight and the state's future.
